Rocked it & Swapped it

When I saw Kaitlyn's stripe tank from Forever 21, I knew I needed to borrow it ASAP! ;)
Now that I have, I'm not sure I want to give it back. I have actually called DIBS on this one (meaning when she's ready to sell, I get the first stab at it)! Kaitlyn rocked this look out with white denim and studded sandals (and an awesome background to boot)...

I decided to keep it casual too and paired it with jean shorts and an orange flat for a pop of color:

I can also totally see this tank with a great maxi skirt, colored shorts, and even with pants and a blazer. This is a super versital shirt for sure. (LOVE THAT) ;)

Because Lisa Can't stop Buying Maxi Dresses

IMG_3301 faux leather jacket fringe bag
Dress: Forever 21, Jacket: C/O Sheinside, Bag: C/O Just Fabulous, Necklace: T plus J designs, Wrist wrap and blue bracelet: C/O Kristin Hassan, Gold basketweave bracelet: C/O T plus J designs, Shoes: Victoria's Secret

I have an addiction problem. One I do not plan on getting help for, but it's still an issue indeed. I can't NOT buy maxi dresses. Everytime I go shopping, there is at least one in my pile. They are my summer go-to. They are my "around the house with the kiddos" staple. They are my date night favorite. Maybe I just like dressing comfortable and still stylish at the same time. Am I wrong or do maxi dresses do just that for us? (comfort and style...best of both worlds people! ;)

Our Style Icons

Kaitlyn

Jennifer Aniston
Ms. Aniston has been one of my favorite celebrities since FRIENDS, being that it is my favorite show of all time and she seems like a genuine person, but it is her style that never fails to impress me. What I love most is that it always looks effortless, yet completely pulled together. Nobody else can look that gorgeous in a traditional pair of blue jeans and a basic tank top...I guess her 14k gold accessories and perfect hair don't hurt.

Blake Lively
It's no secret that THE Gossip Girl has a great wardrobe on the show, but this also translates to her real life, where she is one of few actresses that chooses not to utilize a stylist. The ensembles she puts together are so cleverly constructed that any professional help would just be a hindrance to her unique flair. Who else would think to put a black glitter skirt over an over-sized denim men's button down with a tan wide belt (far right) Amazing. Let's be honest though, those long legs and sex hair that ALWAYS looks just right give her an easy base to work with.

Rachel Bilson
A shimmery modern pant suit, tuxedo cami, and shorts over tights: This is one girl who is not afraid to take risks, and I have yet to see her in the Fashion Police because it consistently works for her. Her tiny frame must require some serious clothing alterations, but her outfits always end up looking like they were custom made for her. She definitely abides by my "don't follow the trends rule." She wears what she feels comfortable in which always results in her looking great.

Lisa

Olivia Palermo
I want access to this girls closet (and not in a creepy I'm going to rob you way! lol)! I don't know if I've ever seen her in the same outfit twice, but she is always styled flawlessly. I love how she is constantly evolving and trying new things (mixing textures and prints), she's great style inspiration for sure!

Nicole Richie
What's not to love? This fellow mommy always looks so boho chic. I've always felt like I would have been a great flower child, so it only makes sense that I look up to a modern day flower child for fashion inspiration! I love how she can rock a maxi dress or jeans and a tee with a head piece and look uber chic. I am a fan or comfort and still want it to look amazing and I think Nicole is a great example of someone who also does this, and does this well!

Rachel Zoe
Oh Rachel, how I love thee. ;) This is another closet I would go "bananas" in! I think her jewelry collection alone would cause anyone to be envious, but along with having an amazing collection of vintage and designer clothes she just makes styling looking so effortless. Weather she tosses on a hat with a dress or layers some fur over her cute skinny jeans and blouse, Rachel is always looking great!

Who are your favorite style icons? Do tell.

Because we went to a Bon Voyage party

Lisa and I attended "Baubles and Bon Voyage," a shopping/shipping off party for a fellow Chicago blogger, Jessica from Bows & Sequins. It was held at the Suite Lounge, a hidden gem on Wells street. The inside looked like an old cave and was definitely a place I would love to visit again with the fiance for a drink.

We had a great time shopping Kristin Hassan's Passport to Style collection, sipping champagne and having mini-photo shoots with some of our favorite fashion friends. Not to mention, we came home with some sweet swag bags filled with stackable rings and Zoya nail polish...Definitely better than your average Thursday night. Good luck to Jessica in NYC...We can't wait to see the new outfit posts ;)

Don't mind if I do...

Excuse me while I lust for Jessica's shoes!

We just had to...

Because We Went to a Backyard Birthday BBQ

We recently hosted/attended a 60th birthday celebration for my wonderful father at our house complete with a massive white tent, bartender, and an emotional photo slideshow of his life put together by Lisa, my brother and I. The night was just as perfect as we had pictured it - Close friends and family telling stories and memories of my dad, set to the background of a meticulously planned playlist of his favorite songs. It was so nice to not be rushing out the door for a dinner reservation - Instead, everybody we love was in one place and we were able to drink, snack and laugh into the nighttime hours.

It was a 90 degree day (my favorite kind!) which meant light summer dresses and sandals were essential:

Dress: Forever 21, Sandals: Charlotte Russe (Similar), Earrings: Francesca's (Similar)

Bracelet: Loft, Belt: Forever 21, Ring: Made by Lisa

shift dress
Dress: Threadsence, Shoes: Target, Sunnies: Michael Kors

Bracelets: C/O Kristin Hassan, Ring: Self Made (I SPY DIY project)

The beautiful white tent (which I now think should be a permanent fixture in our yard)

The amazing multi-layer cake

One of the only times you'll see Lisa in flats ;)

Rocked it & Swapped it

Kaitlyn has this amazing green and black tank from Macy's (BCBG). I was overly excited when I went to her house for a swap and it was already in my "FriendSwap Bag," SCORE! Here is Kaitlyn rocking her tank:

I decided to pair it with black pants and a black tank for brunch with the family. I generally do not wear tons of black, but I LOVE this look!

Because Kaitlyn is a Passport to Style Concierge!

As your Passport to Style concierge in Istanbul, it is my pleasure to guide you through the challenge of mixing everyday wear with the Golden Horn ring. The size and impact of this beautiful piece of jewelry is statement enough, so it's not necessary to try anything risky with your apparel. On this particular work day, I chose to accessorize the ring with dark blue shorts, a nude lace top, and leopard flats. As Lisa (my favorite tour guide from Athens) would say, it's "casual chic." The ring has a great elastic band so it can be worn on any finger and definitely adds the perfect touch to your outfit.

Ring: Kristin Hassan, Bracelet: Loft (similar) (similar)

Shirt: Forever 21 (similar) (similar), Shorts: H&M (similar), Flats: Target

Don't forget your sunglasses, it's hot out there!

Safe Travels, Xo

Because We Went to a Rock Show

In addition to fashion, Lisa and I both share a passion for live music and let's be honest, a rock show is a solid excuse to bust out that leather skirt you purchased months ago because you had to have it along with those purple tights, right? (no? just me?) One my favorite shows to date was the XRT holiday concert we attended with our men, featuring Pete Yorn, Phoenix and The Flaming Lips. We were treated to an amazing suite complete with spiced rum and a fantastic view.

Does anyone else dress for the kind of music you're going to hear? We all know that we can't wear the same outfit to see Lady GaGa that we would to John Mayer...

Lisa: Blazer: Urban Outfitters, Tee and Boots: Victoria's Secret, Jeans/cuff: Express,  Necklace: Self made
Kaitlyn: Tank top: Forever 21, Blazer: Urban Outfitters, Leather Skirt: Urban Outfitters, Boots: Bakers

Flaming Lips lead singer Wayne Coyne walked over the crowd in a massive bubble for the finale. How amazing is this picture?

White Denim Worn 3 Ways

As a mommy on the go, I like need my outfits to be simple, chic, and more or less cozy for all day wear. I am in LOVE with white denim. LOVE! ;) Here are 3 examples of how I would wear white denim. The first would be for a date night, the second a casual lunch or out shopping, and the third is everyday wear (yes I wear heels/wedges everywhere I go! lol).

Because Kaitlyn Went to a Bridal Shower

I recently attended the bridal shower for two of my favorite people. It was held at White Eagle Country Club in Naperville which was a perfect setting with a nice view of the golf course and amazing chandeliers. I got to spend time with some of my best girlfriends, eat way too much (stuffed french toast, pastry table, cake, need I say more?) and indulge in some quality opportunities for photo shoots. They got some awesome gifts and I can't wait to be invited over to their new apartment for wine night ;)

I equate wedding showers with the Kentucky Derby in a way because it's a perfect chance to be super feminine by wearing a beautiful dress (and a floppy hat if you wish). I'm obsessed with the mint color of my dress, what do you think of the popular pastel palettes lately?

Dress: Nordstrom, Shoes: Bakers (similar) (similar), Belt: JC Penny

 Adorable favors! "The Perfect Pair"
