Blue Jean Baby

I had a fashion focused conversation with a friend recently and we talked about being given the task of picking one item from our closet to pick and wear forever. While she pondered it for a bit, I answered with no hesitation, choosing my jean jacket. Truthly, I don’t think there’s an article of clothing I get more use out of. Not only (do I feel like) it goes with everything but it’s just one of those pieces that makes me feel like myself...

 I recently wrote about how devastated I was when I lost my original one but my replacement has become equally coveted and it really makes the rounds. It’s been hugged by members of the Nashville cast, spent a gorgeous weekend where I got engaged and helped me keep my sense of Spring, even when it was negative degrees outside.

On that note, I know Lisa feels the same way about her denim jacket and I always admire the way she styles it. Nobody can wear a maxi like this girl and to me, the jacket is always the finishing touch. It's effortless, timeless, comfortable, stylish, endurable and I could go on. Literally, the perfect piece.

Kaitlyn's Top 10: 2014

I have been a part of the blogger world for 3 years now and 2014 holds a special collection of style moments for me. Nothing can compete with my number one #OOTD from last year but as I looked back through more recent posts, I realized how much I continued to step out of my box.

As someone who doesn't typically like big changes, I felt good about taking trying to new styles. When it comes to hair, I stuck with the long bob for awhile (if you know me, that's a big one) then got extensions (missing those mermaid locks!). Fashion wise, I swapped out skinny jeans for flared denim (hello, flattering!) and fedora's for wide-brimmed (who knew boho could be so fun?)

How has your style evolved throughout the years? 

Absence for the Fashion Heart

I love re-visiting an item I haven't worn in awhile and finding a new way to enjoy it. I bought this skirt from LOFT last summer and wore it once or twice but it eventually got lost in the shuffle because I wasn't overly excited about it. 

Then the other day I was looking for a skirt to wear and a light bulb went off in my head... "that floral skirt would be just right with a graphic T!" Sometimes it just takes a few months apart from a clothing item to miss it...luckily, we're back on good terms on not still maintaining "we were on a break!"

Because We Enjoyed Blogger Brunch (Part 2)

We are still daydreaming about the better than Martha brunch we attended 2 weeks ago. Mary of Sportsanista hosted a group of Chicago fashion bloggers at her lovely home in the west loop and we really enjoyed the intimacy of it all. 

Even though we see each other at various events around the city, it's hard to have a real conversation because there's always so much going on (outfit posting and shopping, the usual) so this was a great opportunity to get to know the girls outside of their blogs.

Our Top 12 in 2012: OOTD

With the year coming to an end, we like to look back on all of our OOTD's. Living in the Midwest can mean anything from 80 in March to 50 in December, but four different seasons means four different wardrobes and what girl could complain about that?
