Broadway comes to Ravinia

Our family plans a Ravinia outing every summer and it's a tradition I look so forward to. I would eat outside every day if I could, so this is my ultimate setting and I couldn’t ask for anything more when it comes to the ambiance. I’ve never had a desire to sit in the pavilion because there’s something much more idyllic about packing a picnic, taking your shoes off in the grass and sharing the moment with thousands of other families and groups of friends. 

In previous years, we have seen Steely Dan, Kenny Loggins, Tony Bennett (my favorite!) and this year, an evening of Broadway music performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. It was a choice selected for my Dad, as we were celebrating his birthday and I think the best part was after we got all of our chairs and food set up, at the same time my Mom and Dad looked around us and said, “I’m really happy right now”…That’s all we could ask for.

Rocked it & Swapped it

Button up blouse season is quickly approaching and Lisa and I are more than excited. Lisa rocked the dots with a great pair of cut off's while I chose to stay warm in jeans during our annual summer visit to Ravinia. Summer or fall, this top has you covered (Pun intended!)

(btw, we saw Tony Bennett and if you haven't, everything you've heard is true - he is a real legend and at 87 years old, that title is well deserved - what a voice!)

This is one of my favorite necklaces lately - I am a sucker for delicate gold pieces and the two linking circles is a perfect reminder that I am so lucky to be recently marred to my best friend.



Because We Went To Ravinia

Last summer we went and saw Steely Dan at Ravinia. If you've never been, it's an outdoor concert arena that hosts artists ranging everywhere from Tony Bennett to Carrie Underwood each summer. People bring  chairs, blankets, and food to listen to the live music while hanging out picnic style. Of course you can get pavilion seating or walk closer to the stage to see the band, but most people just sit, relax and consume a few bottles of vino. It is a really great time!
