5 Festival Hair Styles

I love the summer season for so many reasons. The obvious first, is sunshine which leads to lots of amazing live music festivals nationwide. The hair styles we get to rock during these shows are a close second for sure. We get to relive the summer loving vibes of Woodstock while putting our own modern twist on it. It's important to embrace the culture when attending these shows, but not to the point that you look like you are wearing a Halloween costume (check out these do's & don't post I wrote).

I've rounded up 5 of my favorite hairstyles to wear during festival season. However, I fully intend to wear these looks for more then just concerts.

Peaked my Pinterest: Romantic Side Braid

You all know by now how much a love a great braid. I pinned this on Pinterest a few months ago and waited until I got my new Hair by Suzie extensions to try it out.

Here is my take on a romantic side braid:

 

1 & 2) Create a side part and pull all hair to the opposite side.

3) Begin a regular French braid at the top, near the part.

3) Continue creating the French braid along the side/hairline moving towards the ear.

4) Add hair from the opposite side by taking horizontal sections and bringing them around to the front where the braid is located.

5) Finish braid and secure with hair tie. Begin to pull and loosen braid. Loosen braid to desired size.

8) Spray with finishing spray. I also added a bobby pin or two down the center of the braid to keep a few fly-aways in place.

Peaked my Pinterest: Knotted Pony Tail

Lately I've been air drying my hair more and with both kids in school, I oddly have less time to get ready. Go figure. 

My solution, scourer Pinterest for easy hair styles that I can execute in under 10 minutes.

I got very excited with I saw this pin. I switched it up a bit to work with my hair, but this style is easy, fun, and looks surprisingly chic for a do that took under 5 minutes to complete.

What you need:

1 hair elastic or bobby pins

I used a black elastic on mine:

 Here is the knotted pony tail: 

1) Separate your hair into two sections.

2) Tie both ends into a knot.

3) Tie them in a second knot.

4) Tie the elastic band at the bottom or secure with bobby pins.

That is seriously it! 

My favorite part about this (aside from the fact that it is SO easy to do) is that as the day progressed more hair fell out. 

By days end I ended up with a very messy yet very put together look.

Peaked My Pinterest: Braid Wrapped Chignon

This is hands down the easiest hair style I have ever recreated from Pinterest. When I saw this pin, I immediately fell in love but had no idea it would quickly become my go-to for days I'm in a hurry!

Here is the pin that peaked my Pinterest:

This was my first ever attempt at this style. I had just showered and had 20 minutes to get out the door (and yes, my hair was still wet!). I did a 5 minute blow dry, which really means my hair was still super damp, and using the five steps above I created this hair in 7 minutes flat.

I am in LOVE!

Helpful hints: Use a few bobby pins to secure each side after you tuck the end into the top. Also, use 1 bobby pin on each side to hold braids in place.

Peaked My Pinterest: The Double Braid

I am forever on the hunt for easy hair ideas for super hot days or day 3 of dirty hair, so when I saw this pin on Pinterest, I knew it was perfect for a braid lover like myself.

Although there are a lot of steps, it's super easy and the messier the better! 

I broke it down in a few less steps, starting with the two twisted buns in the back and going from there.

If you can twist, braid, and own bobby pins, this is a look you can easily re-creative. It was complete in under 10 minutes and kept my bangs off my face on a very warm day.

The Wrap Up: Sarahpotempa

I showed you in a previous post how to do your hair in a sock top knot.

I recently discovered a product that makes top knots, mid and lower neck buns as easy as 1-2-3.

Enter the wrap-up:

The Sarahpotempa wrap up costs $12.00 and is hands down the easiest and fastest way to get a bun look...period. They come in different colors just like hair donuts and the bun turns out tighter and a bit smaller.

To use:

 1) Add a elastic where you want your bun.

2) Slide the ends of your hair through the hole in the wrap up and start rolling in down toward your head.

3) Fold the wrap around making a circle.

DONE!

I do have to use a few extra bobby pins to keep the part where the two ends come together looking great, but it really is such a great item. Plus at $12 you can't beat that!

If you find buns, top knots, or sock buns difficult, this is product is for you!

Or, if you are like me always looking for new fun products, this is another great item to try.

Peaked my Pinterest: Vintage Faux Bob

As soon as I saw this hair style on Pinterest, I knew I had to try it out.

Before the Style by Bravura event (posts here and here), I didn't have an occasion to wear it for...however, a red carpet event calls for red carpet hair!

Here is the pin that inspired me:

It looks a bit complicated, but it ended up being very easy to execute! 

Here is my attempt at this look step by step:

1) Make sure you have your favorite hair spray, bobby pins, a teasing comb, and curling iron set up and ready

2) Curl your hair

3) Pin the top half of your hair up and tease the bottom portion. I teased the bottom portion in 3 layered sections. Use hair spray!

4) Twist ends of hair and roll hair under, secure with bobby pins.

5) Take the top section down and tease the top and both sides giving you lots of volume. Use a good amount of hair spray in each section.

6) Start twisting and pinning sections of hair to the back. Let some loose hairs fall to create a more drama.

Though I chose to keep it basic, you can add flowers, pins, or barrettes to make it more dressy or even a bridal hair style

.

Peaked My Pinterest: Fishtail Bun

When I saw this hair style Pinterest, I knew it was a must try. I realize the tutorial says it's for a "bridal hair style," but I thought if I didn't back comb my hair and tamed the style a bit, it would be perfect for my night downtown to the Dave Koz holiday concert.

 

Here is my pinspiration:

Here is how my version turned out: The style was super easy to do..I really just did a normal fishtail braid (see my tutorial here), pulled it out a bit, and then pinned it up into a bun.
