Baby, It's Cold Outside

photo hunter boots_zpslpzypfiv.jpg photo hunter boots-2_zpsanfgitii.jpg photo hunter boots-3_zpsunrw5wnp.jpg

Well, it officially happened...baby, it's cold outside! We have been having snow on and off leaving the ground either covered with beautiful fluffy white snow or an ugly brown & wet mess. On this day, it was the ladder. The only solution for these day is a great pair of tall rain boots.

It doesn't get more basic everyday winter wear then skinny jeans and a classic cream sweater. To brighten up this look I added orange in both my boots and my lip color. To tie the outfit together I added this gorgeous blue scarf which had a bit of orange in it as well as some black. Toss on a great wool trench and a leather tote bag, and you are looking put-together on an otherwise dreary day.

Neon and Leather

 photo IMG_1820_zpsi4rgj4cq.jpg photo IMG_1867_zpsxnwsa0fa.jpg photo IMG_1852_zpsuiqjwcmy.jpg photo IMG_1871_zps2e9xdcfv.jpg

I love me some neon, so this dress has been a love of mine since early 2012 when I found it online at Victoria's Secret. Over the years, I have worn it alone, with a denim jacket, a white blazer, and a faux brown leather jacket, so it only seemed fair to style it with a black leather fringe vest this time around. There is just something about taking a feminine item and pairing it with a masculine one that I enjoy so much. It just goes together, you know what I mean?

Sisters marie teamed up with Park Lane Jewelry (see Kaitlyn's look tomorrow) and styled their Fall line for their new catalog. I am loving these beautiful gems! I think my favorite would have to be this layered necklace. It looks like four separate pieces, but it's actually all connected. My favorite part is you can un-clip the longest stone necklace and wear it separate from the group. It is so versatile and I find myself grabbing for one of these variations on a daily basis.

Print Mixing & a Pop of Pink

 photo IMG_0823_zpsqh2kulaa.jpg photo IMG_0815_zpsauej61h6.jpg photo IMG_0817_zpsvnsbbvj4.jpg photo IMG_0829_zpstwofti1a.jpg

How adorable is this top? I just love the pop of pink in the sunglasses mixed with the stripes. When I found this in my most recent swap bag from Kaitlyn, I was pumped. The obvious styling would be to pair it with denim shorts or distressed jeans, but I wanted to try a more "out-of-the-box" pairing. I will for sure be wearing this top again before I give it back! ;)

What goes better with stripes then polka dots? Not many things I say! I kept my look all back and white and then added one extra pop of pink in my clutch. To finish my outfit off, I added silver jewelry and my favorite Prada sunglasses.

Do you ever print mix in the same color then add a pop of color to finish the look off?

Plaid Layered on Plaid

I am so obsessed with winter layers lately. I feel like once you get the hang of layering, the options are endless. You begin finding yourself pairing items you never thought you'd put together before. Take these two plaid items for example. They are both in high rotation currently, but I would have never thought to pair them. I was all dressed, minus the scarf and when I was putting my coat on I tossed it on just to see what it would look like. Another happy fashion accident that went oh so right!
Now can we discuss how in love I am with this amazing olive colored cross-body Botkier Bag? It is the perfect color for everyday wear and I just love all the zippers and chain details. You can bet you will be seeing this beauty quite a bit here on Sisters Marie between myself and Kaitlyn!

New Hair & Pattern Mixing

I finally took my extensions out this past week and I was both happy and sad to do so. It's always bittersweet as I love having think hair down to my waist, but it's so much lighter and healthy feeling when you get a great haircut and style eight weeks later.

I kept the length longer by only taking off 1-2 inches and had my stylist add tons of layers and a feather type front. I mean, I did say give me and updated Farah Fawcett look. I am super happy with how it turned out!

This day I layered a print button up under a crop knit and simply added boyfriend jeans and tons of amazing gold jewelry. To finish the look off, I added a plaid shoe to pattern mix (but kept the colors in the same family), a camel colored wool coat, and my emerald bag.

In the end I think my looked turned out more preppy then I had intended, but why not have a preppy day? I actually was wearing a top knot when I got dressed in this outfit, but after my hair cut it took on a whole new look...In a good way I think.

What do you think of my new hair style?
Do you pattern mix using the same color palette?

It's all in the Accessories

 photo IMG_7164_zps9b1ce0f9.jpg photo IMG_7173_zps9e812179.jpg photo IMG_7162_zpsbd4bcbff.jpg photo IMG_7177_zps4f1fbcdd.jpg
Sometimes all you need to make an outfit great are the perfect accessories. I started my look off with an all black pallet; my favorite black flare denim, a black blouse, and some black boots. Then comes the fun part, the accessories!

I started out by adding this beautiful Rebecca Minkoff quilted bag and decided to play off the gold in the chain by adding a gold watch and my new favorite gold midi ring. Next I decided to add this amazing plaid scarf. To finish my look off I added a classic brown wool trench.

Coat: Victoria's Secret // Top: Macy's // Jeans: 7 for all Mankind // Bag: c/o Rebecca Minkoff via Shopbop // Scarf: Old Navy (Swap w/ Kaitlyn) // Sunnies & Ring: c/o Shop Lately // Watch: Fossil

Can we just talk about the color of this purse? How unexpected and beautiful. It's so different than anything I own, I knew right away I just had to have it! Shopbop has such a great collection of Rebecca Minkoff bags to choose from, it really made it difficult to pick which one was right for both myself & Kaitlyn to share. In the end I think we made the right choice.

Do you ever keep you pallet monochromatic then rev it up in the accessories? What do you think of this bag and color?

As Fall as it Gets

 photo IMG_6137_zpseddd49cd.jpg photo IMG_6131_zpscf485fff.jpg photo IMG_6147_zpsc3bb5f7b.jpg
Fall is hands down my favorite season. I love all the colors, smells, layers, and not to mention pumpkin spice everything!
I think plaid, orange, riding boots, and wool coats are about as fall as it gets.

This outfit pretty much encompasses all that I love about the season. I have the lovely fall colors in the background, my new wool coat (which I am obsessed with), my favorite plaid scarf, and I layered my crop knit over an orange tee. Let's not forget the skinny jeans and a pair of riding boots and you are ready to play outside with your family or go to the local farmers market/pumpkin patch and have some fall fun.
