A Tale of a Dress That Won't Go Out of Style

I love this dress! The lace, the way the flowers on the print gradually gather at the bottom, the silk-like material, and the fit and flare...it's all perfect in my book. What would you say if I told you I purchased it over five years ago? Yeah, this dress literally will not go out of style. And Modcloth agrees as they still sell it to this day!

When I wore it the first time (back in 2011), I remember thinking it was the perfect fit and I hope I have it for years to come. Thankfully, I have taken really good care of it and we are still going strong with no signs of our last wear in site. I wish I could say that about all my clothes. ;)

Do you have dresses that are over five years old and still in style? How many years do you generally get out of clothing? I think my average is about three years for most clothing, especially if I wear and wash it often.

A French Connection

There is nothing more "French street style" then a pair of all white tennis shoes paired with a more dressed up top half. From Kendall Jenner to Gigi Hadid, these girls know how to bring this trend to the US. In the past I have not been a huge fan of flats in general, so this is a bit out of my box. Having said that, this is something that I have wanted to purchase for over a year, and I am so glad I finally went for it! I am loving this pairing and thought let's make it more Persian by adding a scarf around my neck. This look was perfect for a weekend family party and I was beyond cozy in it. Plus you get a bit more mileage out of your wardrobe by toning down some of your dressier styles. Win, win!

Do you own all white sneakers? I feel like everyone needs a pair...even if they are difficult to keep clean! ;)

If it's Not Broken, Don't Fix it

I have owned this dress since 2012 and it is still one of my summer favorites. I love how lightweight and breezy it is, and the high-low hem is subtle enough to still be "on trend" four years later. The best part, I never mix it up too much as it is beautiful as it is. If it's not broken, don't fix it, right?

When it came to styling my dress for a night in the city, I kept it easy as usual only adding a few other pieces. Strappy heels, a great cut-out bag, my favorite leather tie necklace, and a denim jacket where all I needed to take this look to city chic. In the end I added a pop of teal with my earring and in doing so, I ended up mixing my silver and gold metals... I am OK with that!

Here is how I have styled my dress in the past:

I've had quite the hair evolution over the years! ;)
Do you have a dress you wear year in and year out and don't mix up the styling that much? How would you style this rust colored beauty? (I'm always looking for new ideas!)

Nochella, No Problem

 photo IMG_1001_zpsbjsphidj.jpg photo IMG_0982_zpsdngz8rkc.jpg photo IMG_0988_zpsdlc0wosk.jpg

Anyone else having major festival envy watching Coachella on social media? That envy quickly passed as I wore one of my new favorite spring dresses and live-streamed the show from the comfort of my living room. Nochella, no problem! I actually danced and had a very fun time with my husband as we did just that each night this weekend! Something tells me we will be at it again this coming weekend too.  OK, let's get back to this gorgeous festival look, shall we?

When shopping for womens dresses, Express has you covered. This flowy number became my fast favorite due to the fun neckline and crochet detail. Plus I'm a huge fan of a sheer bottom...let's just say this dress checked off all my boxes. When it came to the styling, I kept it easy by adding a cream heel, headband, denim jacket, and saddle bag. I love how the colors paired, don't you?

I decided to use the triangle detail in the top of the dress to pull in these gorgeous dangle earrings from Park Lane Jewelry. I have the matching necklace too (which will be on the blog next week) and it added just the right amount of glam to this look. Sometimes you just need a little sparkle even when dealing with festival styles.

Maxi Dress Season

 photo IMG_0219_zps2m2ptm5q.jpg photo IMG_0209_zpsfkyywjof.jpg photo IMG_0205_zpsjznejrfd.jpg

Spring has finally sprung which means maxi dress season is upon us. This is my favorite time of year to shop and stock up on some great dresses, some of which you can get year round year out of. Isn't it great what was thought to be a retro fad about five years back is now yearly mainstream fashion? Fellow maxi dress lovers can now stock up yearly like I do!

This polka dot number was gifted to be back in 2014, and it is still in heavy rotation. I love that you can change the belt, shoes, and jacket and it really does take on a new look each time. On this day I kept the styling a bit matchy and added both brown shoes and a brown wrap belt. No spring look is complete with out a great denim jacket, then to finish the look off I added this beautiful black tassel bag

Neon colors are ALWAYS a great idea

 photo IMG_1873_zpsvyr3cjhm.jpg photo IMG_1867_zpskw9xpt0i.jpg photo IMG_1865_zpscw9ftyta.jpg photo IMG_1868_zpsmimtog5u.jpg

Nothing brightens up a day more then dressing in neon colors. This dress is one of my all time favorites. The color, the fact that it's tie dye, and how soft and cozy it is, all put it high up on my wardrobe list!

The dress entered my life when Kaitlyn purchased it for her honeymoon as a suit cover-up. She later swapped it with me on Because I Shop Too much and we both were happy campers with new-to-us items. I have worn the dress about 5 times since, but this is only it's second debut (by myself) on the blog.

This day it was partly cloudy out, but he bright neon colors of the dress and bag made my mood feel like it was sunny all day! I added a denim jacket at night because it was a bit cooler out, but kept it casual with flat sandals and a few jewelry items.

Do you have a favorite dress because of it's color or how the fabric feels on your skin?

Do you ever wear neon colors to brighten up your day?
