Best Looks of 2017: Lisa

Happy Wednesday friends! Can you believe there are only four days left of 2017? Another year has flown by and another year of fashion is now under my belt. Today, I'm sharing my favorite 12 looks from this past year...one from each month. This year (like may before it), was filled with high-highs and low-lows, and I am so looking forward to a new year and a new chapter in my life. So many amazing things to come in 2018!

Make sure you stop back here the rest of the week; tomorrow we have our top Rocked it & Swapped it of the year, Friday- Kaitlyn's top looks, and on Saturday we are sharing some big news that really changes things here on the blog in 2018! Can you be excited, happy, and a little sad all at the same time? Well, that's how I feel about Saturday's news...more on that soon. In the meantime, here are my "best looks" of 2017.

Transitioning to Winter Style

 photo cabiclothing-17_zpsvfgrsxxt.jpg photo cabiclothing-18_zpsjv0kgo5k.jpg photo cabiclothing-19_zpsdaqiz0fw.jpg

It's that time of year again ladies. The grass is white, covered in frost (or snow) in the mornings, the air is more then crisp now, leaving you to create a smoke like exhale with every breath, and you need that extra layer to stay warm weather you are in or outside lately. This can only mean one thing, Christmas is coming! lol OK, let's have Thanksgiving first, but in all seriousness, it is time for us to transition our fall pieces into winter style. An easy fit? Hosiery of course!

I styled this skirt and top last month and oh how my legs feel different outside now...baby it's cold outside! These are not tights, they are hosiery or nylons. Yeah ladies, old school, control top and all. I think at one point years ago the fashion people told us not to wear hosiery, but I did not listen. I mean, I didn't listen when they said black and brown can not be paired, I did not listed when they said no white after Labor Day, did anyone really think I'd listen to no nylons? I think not! Rules were made to be broken and all that.

This entire look is from the Fall cabi Clothing line and you guys, you really need to get a hold of a stylist and shop before the next collection launches. These pieces can truly be mixed and matched with anything in your wardrobe and can be worn for years to come. The quality alone is reason to buy, but add in the beautiful details and patterns and now they become must-haves. I have worn this jacket six times so far, I'm actually quite obsessed with it. Same with the boots and blouse. I have worn both countless times this season. The skirt I've only rocked twice, but that's only because the holiday season is just ramping up and now, I'll have lots of events to wear it to in the coming months. That said if I had an office job, it would be in constant rotation.

Little Red Jacket

 photo cabiClothing_zpslob60gpg.jpg photo cabiClothing-2_zpsu4zdsgnh.jpg photo cabiClothing-7_zpsrvre5fdf.jpg

Before now, I have never owned a little red jacket. That said, how did I go 38 years of life without doing so? It's such a statement piece and so perfect for this time of year, and going into the holiday season. It really makes any outfit pop but put it over another item that already has red in it or pair it with a red lip, and it's next level!

On this day I styled my LRJ over what started as an all black look. Leggings and a turtleneck are the "bones" of this outfit, then I added this gorgeous bonus blouse over and decided to use the tie around my waist. You can totally use the tie around your neck as well, but I digress. Once I was loving my layered look, I added two-toned boots, gold jewelry, and my LRJ. In the end I was obsessed with this unexpected look. Spoiler alert, I've worn it twice since. Hey, if it's not broken, don't fix it!

What do you think of this layered look? Do you own a little red jacket? This entire outfit can be found currently selling on the cabi website. I do want to point out to you guys something that is very important (I think). As bloggers, we promote clothing and other items and a lot of the time, we make a % if you buy any items by using our links. I want to let you know, I don't make any money off you ordering your very own cabi pieces! I simply work with this brand because I love the quality, what the company stands for, how they give back not only nationally but global, and the clothing are all such great items you can use season after season. In short, cabi is a brand I am happy to promote and stand behind just because I love it and think you will too!

A Little Bit Nautical, A Little Bit French

 photo fashion-307_zpsmm8zlbey.jpg photo fashion-309_zps2jxdqcyt.jpg photo fashion-306_zpsvuyhn9e3.jpg

I was recently gifted these drawstring linen pants from J.Jill and I have to say, they are so my fast favorites! It was a no brainier when it came to styling these beauties for the first time. A pairing a little bit nautical and a little bit French just had to be created. To be honest, it was a little bit retro with a nod to Dirty Dancing as well! (<-- Might be my all time favorite boomerang.)

I wore this outfit for watching fireworks over Lake Geneva and let's be honest, this red, white, and blue look was a great choice for the holiday. That said, this pairing is great for any day of the week in all actuality. In fact, I've worn this outfit (or a variation of it) two more times since. What can I say? I love these white linen pants! It's fun to wear them at my natural waist (perks of a draw-string) then styling them by tying a top or tucking one in. It's also fun to wear them lower down towards my hips and adding a longer top while cuffing the ankles. Gotta love a versatile items of clothing!

A Little Off the Shoulder Action

 photo fashion-318_zpsqpfyijli.jpg photo fashion-314_zps2mbag2p3.jpg photo fashion-323_zps9smg4rzr.jpg

I am a bit late to the OTS trend as I keep buying them and then returning for a number of reasons. Anyone else hate how you can't lift your arms up or you get that mark because the elastic is just too tight? Well my friends, I found a top that is loose on your shoulders, leaving no elastic mark, and you can actually lift your arms in this one! Thank you Old Navy, we really needed a top a like this (and I'm pretty sure this one comes in lots of colors and prints too!)

This outfit was perfect for traveling up north to our lake house, making a few stops at our favorite local shops, and having lunch at one of our favorites, Pier 290. I was very comfortable wearing it & we all know by know how much I love wearing socially acceptable pajamas out in public! I mean...stylish and cozy? What's not to love?! Speaking of cozy, these sandals though...swoon!
