Rocked it & Swapped it

We both chose to style this "classic" sweatshirt in a classic way... (see what I did there?) What is more perfect then gray, black, and denim paired together? These colors just simply work however you choose to style them. I promise you should try it if it is not already in heavy rotation. OK, back to this swap now...

When I wore my sweatshirt from The Rage toward the end of summer last year, I paired it with a denim skirt, black fringe bag, and black cut-out flats. Kaitlyn kept the colors classically paired with skinny jeans, cut-out black boots, a faux leather jacket, and a gray beanie. Kaitlyn, I'm totally wearing this outfit next week. No, seriously you guys, that's my hat, sweatshirt, and coat and I have NEVER paired them together. I mean...I have to. I love it so!

Here is how we both styled the top:

"Classic" Comfort

 photo IMG_5259_zpsyyit6rsb.jpg photo IMG_5273_zpsdygagojh.jpg

This past weekend was beautiful, blessing us with cooler temperatures to spend our last days of summer in. On this afternoon, we went out for lunch and then walked to a local park and also stopped for some ice cream. A perfect weekend day!

When it came to choosing my outfit, I kept it "classic" in this sweatshirt paired with a denim skirt and oxford flats. I kept the look easy and comfortable by tossing my hair in a topknot and adding a fringe bag and gorgeous sunglasses.

This outfit was perfect for keeping me warm in the cool breeze by the lake. I was also able to play with my kids in it, walk block after block, and eat (and eat some more if we are being honest) comfortably. That my friends is an outfit win in my book!

Rocked it & Swapped it

From beach to vacation vibes, this shift dress has become our favorite recent swap. We both kept it pretty basic but Lisa styled the dress for a weekend visit to Austin, TX and I love how the small changes like the tassel necklace and cognac sandals made it just right for her day of sightseeing and food truck stops (more to come on Austin soon!)

We're both a sucker for a floral print, especially when it's a dress that leaves enough room for multiple cupcake stops ;) so this one is a keeper and will most likely make it to next summer. Not to mention, the dress fits both of us pretty perfectly which is very rare...often something is too short/long, too busy/not busty enough or a plethora of other factors that tend to impact our swaps...but this one was just right.

Beach Vibes

For me, summer is all about color…Living in the Midwest, I feel like we spend too many of our months in neutrals and dark colors, sometimes to even match our mood (Thanks, winter!) So I gravitate towards pops of bright colors wherever I can during the warmer months.

I have mentioned my obsession with the Rage in a previous post and this dress is further evidence of this love affair. The palm print, the mix of blue and pink (my wedding colors), the crochet detail and the bold blue outline along the edge takes a very feminine dress and gives it an athletic edge which I love.

To complete the look... colored sunnies, gladiator sandals and my favorite quilted bag. I was actually on my way to drinks and a movie with Lisa but felt more like I was going to a celebration by the water...just gotta give off those beach vibes, though ;)

Dress: The Rage | Sandals: Old Navy (love these too!) | Purse: Rebecca Minkoff

Tall Girls CAN wear Rompers...

Trying to find a dress that isn't actually a shirt...my number one tall girl problem. I am all for getting leggy in mini skirts but at 5'9," sometimes mini becomes trampy and that, I'd like to avoid at all costs.

Let me be clear, I'm not complaining about my height...I typically embrace being tall (except when my husband complains about the extra lift from my heels, sorry not sorry sweets!) but there are some instances where I must work a little harder to find things that work well for my body and this issue applies to one of my favorite spring/summer trends...the romper.

I have fallen in love with this one-piece style which despite making bathroom trips a little longer, is perfect for almost everything from a night out with the girls, a bridal shower, or even the office if you can find one appropriate enough which is what I set out to do. No matter how cute, I just can't shop the rompers in Forever because for me, they are LITERALLY the epitome of "cheeky," and not in a endearing way.

So, I did some research and remembered that I had seen a few styles on the Rage IG page that stood out to me, plus they looked longer and a little more "covered up" than most. I spent some time on their site looking at the models in the photos to see how they fit and felt confident about some of the styles so I went with this floral romper and it ended up being perfect for my height.

While still short, it doesn't make me feel self-conscious when I'm walking and can definitely be taken down a notch with flat sandals and a jean jacket.

I love all the bright colors and prints on this site right now so of course, I couldn't just order one item...I also scored a gorgeous floral maxi and a shift dress that will be just right for another weekend by the lake.

Here are a few of my other favorite romper styles from the Rage: Stripes // Beach // Florals #2

Romper: The Rage | Shoes: Just Fab (similar) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (love it in hot pink too!
Sunnies: Swap w/Mom (similar) | Watch: T+J Designs (similar) | Ring: Swap w/Lisa | Necklace: H&M
