Lisa's Top 10: 2014

This past year was my favorite style year on the blog so far. Last year, I showed you my top ten looks of 2013 and looking back, I can see how much my style has evolved. At this point in my life, I am comfortable taking more style risks and I am happy in my everyday "mom wear" as well. I guess it really does come down to just being comfortable and confident in your own skin and when you get there, it truly shows.

Here are my top ten looks from 2014:

I think this is a great representation of my style. I love jeans, rompers, jumpsuits, and dresses and those have really been my go-tos this past year. As you can see, I don't have just one go-to style. What I end up wearing all depends on my mood,  the event I'm attending, or just the day I have planned.

Do you have a favorite look from above? Did your style change at all this year?

Moms Night Off ;)

Over the weekend, my sister and myself decided to sneak away for a moms night off. Neither of us have ever done that before and thought it would be pretty cool.

We booked The Renaissance Hotel on Priceline and had such a fun time. The room was beautiful and our view from the 19th floor was amazing! We decided to stay in the hotel for the night and grab dinner at their in house bar. I mean if you are staying in such a nice hotel, why not stay there all night?

I decided to wear my leopard print shift dress. I kept the styling very simple by adding tights, oxblood heels, a neutral bag, and great jewelry.

The hotel bar, Novo, had tapas style food. We had some super yummy eats, quite a few beers, and lots of great chats. We may need to do this more often!

What do you wear for dinner out with your sister or girl friends? Have you ever stayed at the Renaissance hotel or been to bar Novo before?

*Head over to Stilettos and Diaper Bags  to see what I wore downtown all day!

Everyday City Chic

 photo IMG_5407_zps6b1075d5.jpg photo IMG_5395_zps852ab6c7.jpg photo IMG_5396_zps3d42ba2e.jpg
Kaitlyn and I recently headed to the city to meet up with my friend and hair genius, Suzie. This was the day we got our extensions put in, so I decided to keep the look super simple yet chic as I planned to just wear a tank as I had mine put in.

I paired this amazing blazer with a scarf, tank top, jeans, and a great bag. Toss on some round frame sunnies and an ankle boot and it was perfect for everyday city wear.

Blazer: Piperlime (swap w/ Kaitlyn) // Jeans: Gap // Scarf & Tank: Target // Bag, Ring, & Shoes: c/o Just Fab // Sunnies: Express

I just love the mustard and blue paired with the leopard print. I think the play off each other quite nicely, no?

What do you think of this outfit? What do you wear for a casual afternoon downtown?

It's Beginning to Feel a bit Like Fall

I am loving the weather right now. It's not "jacket cold" out, but it's clearly no longer summer. The only solution for nights out with your girl friends? A sweater dress and a cute bootie of course!

I am in love with this sweater dress. I found it on Hautelook for a fraction of the price, SCORE! I decided to pair it with a black slip dress, black booties, gold accessories, and this amazing oxblood clutch.

I can't wait to wear it again with taller boots and maybe a different colored slip.
Do you ever do that? Wear an outfit and then immediately know how you will style it the next time? I can actually say I do that on a regular basis.
I'll even go so far as to make notes on my phone about how I want to style, or pair outfits in the future. Effortlessly chic is not actually effortless for me. But I'm getting better and I know what I like! ;)

What do you think of this pairing? Do you like wearing sweater dresses in the fall?

Here are a few I am currently lusting over:

Midi Skirt Inspiration

In a recent swap on BISTM, I traded Johanna a polka dot top for her blue midi skirt and I am very happy with the outcome. I have been relying on midi skirts quite a bit this summer because the length is appropriate for the office but still keeps me cool when I venture out into the heat for a lunch break. I couldn't pass up this skirt because it's my absolute favorite color blue (see bridesmaid dresses) and I loved the button details down the front.

I am always looking for style inspiration so I collected a few of my favorite ways that fellow bloggers wore their blue midi's in order to create a look that was all my own.

(i spy a 4-legged photo bomber....)

What do you think of the midi style?

Rocked it & Swapped it

When I saw this Target style on What I Wore, I literally went out hours later the same day to purchase it for myself. I love effortless pieces that can be dressed up or down and have worn it 3 times already. It is so comfortable and of course, fits right in with my love of stripes.

Little did I know Lisa had gone out and purchased the same dress...Should have known the maxi queen wouldn't pass on this one ;)

Target has AMAZNG maxi styles right now! Check them out, they are perfect for summer:

Neon Yellow V-Neck (I bought this one too!)
Woven Halter
More stripes

Because I Won the Britt + Whit DSW Giveaway!

My morning internet routine includes checking the basics like Gmail, Facebook and the Tribune, followed by some of my favorite blogs like Cupcakes and Cashmere, WhatIWore, and Stilettos and Diaper Bags. I recently added Britt+Whit , a San Francisco fashion blog, to this list. I don't know if it's because I'm green with envy because of their San Francisco location or because they are a cute blond and brunette who bond over their passions for fashion and blogging (enter Kaitlyn and Lisa).

I'm a sucker for outfit posts because I'm always interested to see how different personalities are shown through the way people style their clothes and these ladies have quite an impressive portfolio when it comes to creative collaborations.

Love the dichotomy of menswear (tweed blazer) and feminine pieces (shorts/heels/clutch)

Not everyone can pull off colored pants, but these look great paired with a tied gingham top

In addition to their daily fashion news, they also frequently offer some amazing giveaways, and I was recently the lucky winner of their DSW offer! I am so excited to have this leopard pair of Sam Edelman heels in my collection!

Amazing, right?

They definitely made a nice addition to this dress for a girl's night out!
