Welcome Back, I Have Missed You!

Isn't it fun how clothing trends come and go but ultimately they all come back around again? In some cases when they come back around, they are better then ever. That is how I feel about button front denim skirts. In the past, I never owned one that had a button front, but I loved the way it looks. This is a summer must have as far as I am concerned.

Denim skirts can be styled for everyday wear, a girls night out, or even to a festival. These bad boys are super versatile and they have me dreaming of owning one. Now, if I can just pick a length that I know will look good on both Kaitlyn and I so we can do a swap... ;)

I am kicking myself that I didn't keep my favorite few from the early 2000's but thankfully I found quite a few currently selling that I've got my eye on. I looked for all different lengths and all different price points because let's be honest, it's not always a great time financially to splurge...But sometimes it is!

Take a look below and feel free to clink on the photos to shop some of these great finds:

Did you keep your denim skirts from back in the day?

Is this an item you will be wearing this season? Let's chat in the comments section.

Blog of the Month: Little Nostalgia

Our October blogger of the month is Paige of Little Nostalgia...

"The blog began as a way for me to stave off boredom at my former day job, but when I went back to school for interior design in 2011, the blog changed with me. These days the blog is about making yourself at home through DIY projects, decor inspiration, and personal style. Where you live is an extension of who you are, so don’t be afraid to make it your own. We bought our first home in 2012, a split-level from the early ’70s that was partially updated over the years. We’re slowly painting over all of the ’90s oak and making it our style. You can check out some of our biggest projects right here."

See some of Paige's inspirational home decor posts:

On top of the blog, Paige also has her own home decor business called The Room Kit where she can help you design any space. Her mood boards are a great choice whether you’re starting from scratch, or just need a little boost bringing everything together. These boards are full of ideas and instructions to help you transform your room.

The idea is to give you the help of a designer but the freedom to work at your own pace, at your convenience. You can implement exactly what she sends you, or use it as a jumping off point for your own awesome ideas. Your design will be totally customized based on your personal style and budget. Each mood board is only $150 and will tell you everything you need to give your space a fresh look.

Will you try out the Room Kit? Where do you get your home decor inspiration?

Because We Love (Hate?) The 90's

I spent (too) many days and (too) much money in my teens on clothes at Forever 21. Every female who goes off to college knows the "pain" of not having a new shirt to wear the bars every night and F21 was always the answer – cheap and trendy, a quick fix. I never could imagine the day where it wouldn’t be in my rotation of stores, but as time goes by, I find myself slowly transitioning out of that mode because I've finally come to see how the store can be very overwhelming and unorganized.

That said, I DO still think it’s good for accessories, basics, and the occasional trendy piece when you just don’t want to splurge. But on a recent visit, Lisa and I walked by so many articles of clothing that made us laugh at the thought of putting it on so we decided to document our trip.

While we support the return of some 90’s trends (hello #croptops!), there are some that should have never seen the light of day, let alone have made a comeback.

Please enjoy our photo stream of style gone bad in the form of acid wash jeans and velvet. VELVET!

Didn't Kelly Kapowski rock this? Did we really ever love leggings under jean shorts?

I have no words

This is supposed to be a dress, right?

I feel like Miley Cyrus owns many similar pairs.

I'm all for cut-outs but even the Pretty Woman herself wouldn't approve of this look.

Fringe, graphics, florals, studs, vest…which way is up?

Because who doesn't need a full sequin jumper?

Velvet is back but was it really ever here?

I understand floral headbands are cute but this is trying WAY too hard.

Avril Lavigne circa 2007.

Would your Mom approve of this?

Leather and mesh sometimes work together…but not this time.

Figured you guys wanted one more shot of that gorge velvet "dress" ;)

With the return of the 90's, which trends could you do without?

Did We Really Just Say Turtlenecks?

With Fall Fashion Week 2013 behind us, we have lots of new trends to look forward to.
Yes, of course we realize it has only been spring for just over a week (though it's hard to tell!) but it's never a bad idea to look ahead at what trends are yet to come.

You can also find some great pre-fall turtlenecks on BISTM:
Faith Connexion gray sweater dress / Maison Martin Margiela / LOFT petite sweater / I Heart Ronson turtleneck sweater / Autumn Cashmere turtleneck sweater / J.Crew j crew / Vero Moda over sized sweater, $55 / Mango turtleneck sweater, $30 / Schumacher turtleneck sweater

Elbow patches (LOVE), shorter sleeved turtlenecks (super versatile and great for layering or by themselves when it's not quite cold yet), color blocking, and textures.

If this is a preview of what is to come, count me in.
Which is your favorite?
