Peaked My Pinterest: Braid Wrapped Chignon

This is hands down the easiest hair style I have ever recreated from Pinterest. When I saw this pin, I immediately fell in love but had no idea it would quickly become my go-to for days I'm in a hurry!
Here is the pin that peaked my Pinterest:
 photo 19a2c8190856d3ef3890f02e5f86445d_zps5c4538a7.jpg
This was my first ever attempt at this style. I had just showered and had 20 minutes to get out the door (and yes, my hair was still wet!). I did a 5 minute blow dry, which really means my hair was still super damp, and using the five steps above I created this hair in 7 minutes flat.
I am in LOVE!

Helpful hints: Use a few bobby pins to secure each side after you tuck the end into the top. Also, use 1 bobby pin on each side to hold braids in place.

Rocked it & Swapped it

Kaitlyn bought this beautiful Calvin Klein dress for her honeymoon and looked stunning wearing it in the sand with the ocean as her backdrop.

I decided to wear the dress on a day it was a bit cooler out so I layered up for my night out look

Here is how we both styled the dress:

I love nothing more then a great dress that can take you from day to night!

Because Lisa Loves a Good Twirling Dress

Every morning, my daughter gets her clothes on and immediately does a twirl. It doesn't matter if she's in a dress or not, she just gives each look a good spin to make sure it looks good from all angles. I decided to take a page out of her book as I twirled in my new sundress ;)

Dress: Charming Charlie, Shoes: c/o Just Fab, Watch: T+J Designs, Necklace & Earrings: Shore, Bracelet: Lili Claspe, Sunnies: Ray Ban, Ring: House of Harlow 1960

I have to admit, it is a good twirling dress! ;)

Do you ever give your outfit a good spin? After all, you're never to old to twirl!

Because Kaitlyn Went Casual

I consider myself to be a bona fide city girl, but there's something that comes alive in me when we spend a weekend in the north woods. The moment we turn on our street, I roll the windows down and I feel like I can breathe again. Life moves at a slower pace and I find myself straying from my normal routine - Suddenly waking up with the sun isn't a task, but instead a perfect way to spend a morning on the porch with the Sunday paper.

Top: Old Navy ($10!) // Shorts: H&M // Sandals: Target // Bag: c/o Just Fab
Hat: Charming Charlie (similar under $25!) // Sunnies: Nordstrom (similar)

Up here, tree swings and nightime star gazing replace hectic schedules filled with reservations, plans and packed calendars. Sometimes, simplicity is best.

How do you spend weekends away?

Remix: Striped Maxi Dress

It's no secret that I love maxi dresses - in fact, you all must be thinking I have an actual problem that needs to be diagnosed. I have come to terms with my obsession and have no plans of getting fixed. In fact, I enjoy trying to wear maxi's year round by layering and making the dress look like a different piece, so get excited for all maxi, all the time ;)

Here is how I have styled my Eight Sixty maxi dress over the past year:

Anyone else have a major maxi problem like me?

Rocked it & Swapped it

Lisa recently filled me in on Golden Tote which is a team of ladies who have added the element of surprise to shopping by personally curating a variety of items that fit your style and then delivering them to your door in a cute canvas tote bag. I think it's a really cute idea and both of us were impressed with Lisa's items her first time around, this dress from Collective Concepts especially.

Lisa pulled of the dress flawlessly and I decided to mix it up by turning it into a maxi skirt with the help of a knotted tee (and it's super soft, thank you VS!) I love that both styles are casual looks but still have their own flavor. Not to mention this is also one of the comfiest dresses I've ever tried on, so Lisa may have to bribe me to give it back...

Because Kaitlyn Loves the Pier

Pier 290, that is. We have become regulars at one of my favorite restaurants in Wisconsin - It meets all of my requirements for an amazing dining experience: great views of the lake, a fabulous menu (The watermelon & feta salad is to die for!) and the best al fresco scene of the summer. Not to mention a man-made white sand beach with adirondack chairs and a never ending drink menu...it is always 5:00 here.

Even better, the outdoor patio is open most of the year thanks to heaters and cozy fire pits, so I look forward to coming back in layers and boots this fall.

Here is what I wore on a recent visit:

Top: Target // Shorts: Old Navy // Sandals: Old Navy // Bag: c/o Just Fab
Sunnies: Nordstrom // Necklace: E Street Denim // Earrings: c/o Just Fab

See Lisa's outfit details from our visit here!

Because Lisa Attended a Baby Shower

You may remember I wore this dress to Kaitlyn's wedding shower in June but I figured if I didn't wear it again soon, I'd have to wait until next spring and the thought of this pretty number stuck in my closet that long made me sad ;)

I tried to switch it up a bit by adding brown and gold accents instead of sticking with a nude palette.

Here is how I wore my dress for my cousin's baby shower:

Dress: Victoria's Secret, Shoes: ShoeDazzle, Bag: c/o Just Fab, Wrist Wrap: T+J Designs, Watch: Fossil, Rings: Lili Claspe, Sunnies: Prada, Earrings: Just Fab

The shower was beautiful though I think I ate more food in a few hours then I normally do in a full day! ;)
Wishing my cousin the best of luck and happiest wishes as she and her hubby embark on this new chapter of their lives!

Peaked My Pinterest: The Double Braid

I am forever on the hunt for easy hair ideas for super hot days or day 3 of dirty hair, so when I saw this pin on Pinterest, I knew it was perfect for a braid lover like myself.
Although there are a lot of steps, it's super easy and the messier the better!

I broke it down in a few less steps, starting with the two twisted buns in the back and going from there.
 photo thedoublebraid_zpsa698325c.jpg
If you can twist, braid, and own bobby pins, this is a look you can easily re-creative. It was complete in under 10 minutes and kept my bangs off my face on a very warm day.

What do you think? Do you like this style?

Because Kaitlyn is Savoring Summer

Somehow it's already the middle of August which means the sound of back to school ad's and fall previews are filling our living rooms but I'm not ready to give up my shorts just yet. The way I see it, there will soon be more than enough days to bundle up in lots of layers, so for now, I'm baring these legs until the sun sets on summer...

Anyone else have "black and yellow black and yellow" stuck in their heads?
If you didn't, you probably do now;)
 photo IMG_9796_zpsc791bf8f.jpg
Top: Target (swap w/Lisa) // Shorts: Old Navy ($10!) // Wedges: DSW (similar)
Clutch: Francesca's // Hat: Swap with Katrina // Necklace: House of Gemmes // Watch: T+J Designs
Bracelets: Bauble Bar // Midi ring: Urban Outfitters // Pointer ring: Lili Claspe

How amazing is this necklace? It's the perfect complement to this blouse -- so many fun colors!
This clutch/wallet hybrid has become an essential part of my life because there are endless slots inside for credit cards. Because I shop too much (much?)

My hubby is not only a good photographer but great at making me laugh, hence the best candids.

Happy Friday!
