Rocked it & Swapped it

I've got two words for you ladies: Tencel fabric! This dress feels like you are wearing pajamas while looking stylish enough for any occasion, day or night. I love how Kaitlyn styled her dress with OTK boots and an olive green jacket. This color combo is perfect for the transition from winter to spring or would even look amazing styled during the transition from summer to fall. Gotta love a great year round piece!

When I recently styled the J.Jill swing dress, it was a bit warmer outside. I decided to pair this light blue beauty with a straw hat, flat sandals, and a great tribal bag. Can we talk about the adorable mini pocket on the front? I mean, I am a sucker for a cute detail. I think both these pairings give you a good idea of just how many ways this dress can be styled. The possibilities are endless and this particular swing dress style is flattering on all body types!

Rocked it & Swapped it

We are both beyond obsessed with our new UGG duck boots from J.Jill. These boots are everything (or they can pair with everything that is). They are not only functional for three of the four seasons (Fall, Winter, and Spring), but they are also totally fashionable. I kid you not when I say I have been living in them the past two weeks. What can't they pair adorably with?

When Kaitlyn styled her boots, she was cozy in cashmere in front of the town Christmas tree. When I recently styled mine, I wore layers of winter white and bundled up on a cold day. There is another great part about these boots, they keep your feet so warm. Functional, cute, and warm? I say everyone needs a great pair of duck boots in their lives! ;)

It's a Nice Day for a Red Midi...

 photo IMG_5508_zpslzecow8q.jpg photo IMG_5518_zpsdnfmxzis.jpg photo IMG_5515_zps1dcsdinw.jpg
I am such a fan of midi skirts, and this red one has been in heavy rotation all year long. Honestly, when I bought it at Forever 21 back in Spring, I had no idea it would get so much wear. This skirt has become an everyday-wear staple of mine, and I am surprised it has only been on the blog three times. When it came to dressing for a day of busy mom life, an afternoon watching a soccer game, & dinner out, I decided to keep it cozy and casual.

When on your feet all day, picking the right pair of shoes is key. These cut-out flats are quickly becoming one of my favorites as they are just as cute as cozy. A basic stripe tank, fringe bag, denim jacket, and gorgeous Lanvin sunglasses and my look was perfect for taking me all though this day.

Here are the other ways I have styled my red midi so far. Very clearly I need to switch up my color pallet! I had no idea how similar I've styled this skirt each time. ;)

Remix: Overalls

I have to admit, never in a million years did I think I'd be wearing overalls at he ripe age of 36. To be honest though, I totally love them and actually just picked up a second pair, this time in black (over on a Gilt sale). I get a lot of use out of these beauties I found at Nordstrom & they have become a bit of a go-to on my otherwise boyfriend denim wearing days.

I find that just like most things, you can dress them up or down depending on the occasion. I've worn them to everything from an event in the city to everyday mom wear. Whether you get a deal on a pair or splurge, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Remix: Trench Vest

Year in and year out, vests are always in style and a great way to layer without adding lots of bulk. Plus, what better way to mix up some of your everyday looks then simply adding a vest over them? Easy and fashionable additions to any outfit are always a great idea.

Out of all the vests I currently own (I have about 6...that's normal right?) this trench vest from Forever 21 is hands down my favorite. I have worn it countless times over the past 2 years and I love how it looks different each time.

Here are examples of how I have styled my trench vest in the summer, the winter, and the spring:

I purchased this one in early 2013, so styles in vests have changed a bit since then. I'm loving the longer ones that are selling this season. Can we just talk about the first one in the third row? Swoon!

Remix & Shop!

A great solid colored blazer is a staple piece everyone should have in their wardrobe. I have lots of blazers (both solid and prints) as they mix and match with almost anything I want to wear year-round. I don't care if you don't have a regular 9-5 job or not, everyone over 25 should have quite a few blazers in rotation...just saying ;)

I love my blue blazer for many reasons, but when I found it 2 years ago at JC Penney, the price tag & vibrant color where what drew me in. The blazer dressed up a graphic tee and boyfriend denim, made my LBD pop by tossing it over and adding a scarf, and matched effortlessly with a tank and print heels as well.

You really can't go wrong when styling this beauty...

Remix: Plaid Cardigan Coat

Statement coats or sweaters are just as important to your wardrobe as a great statement bag or shoe. Sure, you may not wear it everyday, but when you do, it's all you need to stand out. Plus, the outfit takes on an entirely new look by adding such a piece so we are both all about this plaid cardigan coat!

Here are a few ways we have styled it so far:

Remix: Plaid Sweater

Kaitlyn got this amazing plaid sweater from Forever 21 in early 2013 and wore it over the holidays with a top knot (tied with tulle I might add!) For whatever reason, it ended up in her Because I Shop Too Much online closet. Well, finders keeper Kaitlyn, this is still one of my favorite sweaters...you can't have it back...but it may end up in one of our next swap bags :)

Here are a few ways I have remixed the knit in the past 2 years:

I love a top that can be paired with anything from black leggings, to vegan leather shorts, or even distressed denim. So versatile and hands down one of my favorite knits to remix!

Remix: Vegan Leather Skirt

I got this amazing vegan leather skirt from Piperlime last year and it's still one of my go-to skirts for all occasions. Brown is my favorite neutral and I love how you can literally pair it with any print and any color.

Here are three ways I have worn my skirt so far:

Now that I've seen my three looks side-by-side, I'm looking forward to mixing it up a bit. I didn't realize that I've only paired it with print tops as of yet. I'm thinking tights and maybe a solid colored crop knit next? The styling wheels are turning ;)

Do you have a favorite neutral skirt? How would you style this one?

Remix: It's in the Bag

I (Kaitlyn) am to anchor print as kid is to candy store. When I spot it, my eyes light up and  the part of my brain that controls resistance starts working overtime. Maybe it's because of our family lake house or the huge crush I developed on Rachel McAdams' outfit she wore on the boat in Wedding Crashers….whatever the reason, Lisa has gone so far as to say "you have no more room for nautical prints in your closet, it's getting out of hand" ;)

I found this great weekend bag on an impulse stop at the mall while hunting for something I actually WENT for (story of my life). It's perfect for all the summer essentials and works with many different looks.

Which one is your favorite?

Unexpected Pairing Turned Perfect Match

 photo 0e9d42ff-cf2a-49b9-b951-5879bd5360a5_zpse74103a5.jpg photo f10d6408-1811-4da1-bc4c-3a56cd186d8f_zps2df5b99b.jpg photo b715645c-a0b4-43ef-a87d-e72a897465a7_zps122551ba.jpg
In the past I have always styled this top with jean leggings and layered over it. This blouse has a high-low hem that is very extreme.
I was trying to come up with a way to style it that was different from in the past. As I reached for a black skirt, this faux brown leather number was on the same hanger and it was styling love at first sight.
The skirt was long enough to hide the longer hem of the top and the pairing seamed to be a perfect match!
I kept it very "matchy matchy" by adding a blue and brown heel that had animal print on the soles. By tossing on some great gold jewelry, it really finished the look off.

Rocked it & Swapped it (Twice!)

Back in 2013, Kaitlyn and I swapped my Just Fab square, hot pink clutch. It's a statement bag without being over sized, no? It's for sure a bag I never plan to get rid of. I love the pop of color and it's great for everyday wear or even for special occasions.

Here is how we both styled the clutch:

In October of last year, I wore my clutch to a meet and greet myself and Kaitlyn did for our company and websites (Because I Shop too Much & Because They Grow Too Fast). This year showing off her summer style, Katilyn styled it flawlessly with a graphic tee and floral skirt.

Here is how our most recent swap was styled:

Remix: White Blazer Year Round

I have had my white Hive & Honey blazer from Piperlime for two years now and it is without a doubt the blazer I get the most use out of. What's great about a white blazer is that you CAN wear it year round!

I know some still stick to that "no white after Labor Day" rule, but in this, I support "rules were made to be broken" ;)

Here are a few ways I have styled the blazer over the past two years:
 photo remix_zpsaf09cfe4.jpg photo whiteblazer_zps61ae0163.jpg

Naturally when we had a girls trip to Nashville the white blazer had to come with. On this night we had dinner at BB Kings and listened to some amazing live music (and of course ate fried pickles...yes, again!) I decided to pair my favorite blazer with a girly floral dress, fringe bag, and cowboy boots.

Rocked it & Swapped it: Blogger Remix

When the Peter Pilotto collection for Target came out I know both myself and Johanna of 101 Things I Love were there bright and early to shop. It figures that this fellow mommy blogger and friend would choose the same skirt and style it similarly too! (You know what they say about great minds) ;) You can never go wrong with black on black...

Here is how we both styled the skirt
I can't wait to remix it now that the weather is warmer!

Did you buy any of the Peter Pilotto for Target collection? How would you style this skirt for warm temps?

Rocked it & Swapped it (Twice!)

I was given this bag by Persun in early December and wore it twice in blog posts. When I was not capturing my daily looks, it quickly became my everyday bag.  After two months of use (and an embarrassingly large purse collection), I decided to put it up for sale in my closet and Kaitlyn swapped me for it right away!

Here are 4 ways to remix 1 great bag:

This bag is the perfect size, classic style, and a great black bag is like a LBD: everyone needs one!

Rocked it & Swapped it (Twice!)

I bought this scarf a few years back and it has become one of Lisa's and my favorites. As you can see, even though it's a maroon tie dye design, it styles well with so many looks including chambray, leather, knits and pattern mixing. Unfortunately, I can't recall where it's from but luckily, there are many other great options to replicate this look.

Rocked it & Swapped it: Remix

Who isn't mad for plaid? This print was everywhere in fall 2013 whether it was paired with a sequin skirt or layered under a vest so when I saw this blouse at Target I didn't think twice about it's place in my closet. I see plaid as a wardrobe staple so I plan to get many more wears out of this beauty.

This first time I wore it was to a pumpkin patch with the family. The second time, to a spa event on a weekend and both times it was the perfect piece for the event. When Kaitlyn wore the blouse to meet Cameron Diaz, she added a cute knit vest over it. I love how this print works with so many colors and styles!

Remix 3 ways:

Did you go mad for plaid like we did this past year?
