Rocked it & Swapped it

The best part about having lots of summer dresses is the challenge of finding a way to get more use out of them year round. A great way to transition these dresses into fall is by adding layers and switching out your sandals for booties.

When I styled my floral dress from Target in July, I kept the look easy breezy by adding classic jewelry and a great neutral bag.  This outfit was perfect for an overcast day that was about 90 degrees. When Kaitlyn styled the dress, she went with a more fall approach by adding an army green button up and great crop boot so now this dress is ready to be taken into the cooler months ahead. It also gives me lots of inspiration about how to wear this dress next!

Here is how we both style the dress:

Remix & Shop!

A great solid colored blazer is a staple piece everyone should have in their wardrobe. I have lots of blazers (both solid and prints) as they mix and match with almost anything I want to wear year-round. I don't care if you don't have a regular 9-5 job or not, everyone over 25 should have quite a few blazers in rotation...just saying ;)

I love my blue blazer for many reasons, but when I found it 2 years ago at JC Penney, the price tag & vibrant color where what drew me in. The blazer dressed up a graphic tee and boyfriend denim, made my LBD pop by tossing it over and adding a scarf, and matched effortlessly with a tank and print heels as well.

You really can't go wrong when styling this beauty...

Blog of the Month: Pretty Little Fawn

Our April blogger of the month is Courtney from Pretty Little Fawn. Not only does she have a style aesthetic all her own but she also exudes cool on multiple levels, as she grew up working as an actress in Los Angeles (See her in Unfriended which hit theaters last week).

Here's a little bit about Courtney:

"I started this blog in 2011 as a way for me to not only share my outfits, but for me to share my finds. I'm an avid thrifter, vintage shopper, estate-saler and online shopper. I use as many means at my disposal to not only find unique pieces, but pieces well within my small budget.

This blog is a way for me to express, explore, and evolve my style. I really have never been able to specifically pin-down exactly what my style is, but I'd say it's somewhere between a vintage cowgirl and the clothes your grandma keeps in the attic. If that doesn't make sense to you - don't worry. Doesn't make sense to me either, but it's the best I can do."

Rocked it & Swapped it

Kaitlyn got this amazing bag from Shop Lately and I have had my eye on it ever since it made its first debut on the blog. It's always great when one bag can be styled with everything from a holiday or NYE look and still look just as perfect with everyday wear! I mean, isn't that what makes the perfect purse? Versatility is key :)

As you can see, it really does go with everything from a casual outfit to dressed up preppy look

Do you have a bag that can be styled with anything from a sequin skirt to UGGS and distressed denim?

How often do you switch out the bag you are carrying?

Theme Swap: Sweaters & Knits

For our second "theme swap," we chose sweaters & knits, because let's face it Midwest friends -- this sh*t is getting brutal. With 19 inches of snow in ONE DAY this week, we're about ready to call it quits. Sure, it's beautiful, but then you realize driving isn't avoidable any longer and it becomes a nuisance. Anyone else counting down the days until Spring?

Here's how we styled each other's knits:

Anchor Print: The last time I wore this sweater, I didn't play around and layer it at all. Recently, Kaitlyn wore the top and put a plaid blouse under which got my style wheels turning. ;) When I found it in my swap bag, I wanted to keep with her idea of pairing a blouse under, but I stayed in the same color palette of navy and cream.

Polka dots and anchor prints seemed like love at first sight. I added riding boots, skinny jeans, and a plaid scarf to finish it off. I loved how this very "spring/summer print" is easily worn year round by simply editing the style! - Lisa

Flannel Cardigan: I am a sucker for buffalo plaid, especially when it comes in the version of a snuggly wrap that I can cocoon myself in all day long. This is the ultimate weekend piece, perfect for comfort (as seen here) but also looks good roughed up a bit with black and gold booties, leather and a graphic T - Kaitlyn

Gray Cable Knit: I just love this sweater of Kaitlyns! It's so cute and classic I decided to wear it alone and let it be the star of the outfit. By adding my UGGs, a great tribal cross body bag, and my super warm puffer coat, I kept my look cute but still functional for this very cold day.

I find myself layering and pattern mixing tons lately so it was nice to just wear a very simple outfit. Sometimes it's ok just to wear jeans and a sweater. It's as easy and classic as jeans and a tee! - Lisa

Neutral Poncho: This winter, over sized is the name of the game. I'm all about a top I can practically swim in and still look attractive. The key is to keep with form-fitting jeans and layers underneath so I opted for my favorite LOFT denim, a basic black long-sleeved top and to a pack a punch, my plaid combat boots.

I look ready for a weekend in the snow, right? Perfect because we are in the thick of it, #Chiberia! Next time, I'll try mixing it up with stripes (and copying Lisa's gorgeous fat braid). Oh, how I miss those extensions! - Kaitlyn

Rocked it & Swapped it

When it comes to winter fashion, sometimes it's hard to find ways to stay stylish while piling on the layers. Our solution, add a great print bag. I recently got this one on Sole Society and have been wearing it non-stop. It's the perfect size for everyday wear plus I can fit my notebook and organizer in it so that's a plus. It for sure made my cold weather look pop in this outfit post.

I loaded it up for a weekend up at the lake house and Kaitlyn & I swapped it for the day while up north. When she styled it, she layered her look to perfection. I love the green, the stripe tank under, and the tribal print just made a great match.

Fall fashion is on the brain and I can't stop thinking about all the fun we will have layering this coming season. Being girls from the Midwest means we are all about the layers to stay warm, but who says it can't be stylish at the same time?!

We all love a great Canadian tuxedo, but leave it to blogger Sincerely Jules to put a great animal print twist on the normal denim on denim look.

Here is her outfit that inspired us and the items currently selling on Because I shop too much to recreate the look at a fraction of the price:

Blogger Style Inspiration: Sincerely Jules

As business owners and fashion bloggers in world full of creativity, we are influenced by others every single day. An endless Instagram feed of current trends and timeless style invade our mind, sometimes so rapidly that it's hard to process a single image. With that said, I think it's important to slow down and take the time to give credit to those photos that impact us so much, that we aspire to turn adoration into imitation.

For as long as I have been following Sincerely Jules, I have been a fan of her effortless style. She always manages to find the perfect mix of looking laid back yet 100% pulled together.

Here's a few examples of why she is my latest #WCW:

And my favorite part about this lovely ladies' style? Mixing...

There is something I absolutely love about mixing a chic look on top with a casual look on bottom and Jules is a great example of making this look effortless. She is often wearing a dress with sneakers or leather pants with retro Nike’s (my favorite pair here).

As much as I love a good night out in heels, I already stand tall at 5’9” and usually end up taking them off within hours to walk barefoot anyway, so I can’t help but gravitate towards a style that allows you to be comfortable and polished at the same time.
