Best of 2017: Rocked it & Swapped it

Another Thursday, another Rocked it & Swapped it post! This year has been a fun one to swap, as Kaitlyn was pregnant and we had to get creative. She was great about giving me items she had worn & blogged in years past, and I was great about giving her lots of cardigans, bags, scarves, and accessories. Overall, not much changed...she was a tiny (tall) gal before, during, and after her pregnancy, so it was pretty easy to keep the swapping going.

We hope you enjoy this years "best of rocked it & swapped it"!

Rocked it & Swapped it: J. Jill Cable Knit Sweater

Cable knit sweaters are a must this year of year and this J.Jill style is one of the coziest we have found yet. It's chenille material which makes it feel like you're wrapped in a teddy bear and it's pretty long in length with an a-line hem so it works for just about every kind of bottom (jeans, leggings, etc.) I tucked it in a bit in the front for a casual feel and paired it with my favorite everyday nude booties and distressed denim. I like that Lisa took a totally different route and dressed it up by adding four items that take any look from everyday to everyday chic: Jewelry, shoes, bag, and lip color. Versatility at its finest!

Rocked it & Swapped it

One of my favorite brands that we had the honor of working with this past year was cabi Clothing. I first began working with them last Fall on my personal blog, but in Spring of this year Kaitlyn joined in all the fashion fun. This is a brand that I support for so many reasons, and one that we make no money off if you end up shopping. So why do we love cabi so much? They not only have amazing fashion, outstanding quality to their pieces, timeless and trend items that can be worn year after year, but from a company standpoint, they give back in such wonderful ways (both nationally and globally). Now that is something we are both proud to stand behind!

This is the Pirouette Dress and an item that Kaitlyn picked up from the line this Fall. I love how she paired this outfit! She is wearing head to toe cabi Clothing and the "In the Band" jacket is just the right amount of structure to this girly floral dress. When I got this beauty in my swap bag, I couldn't wait to wear it to my second Thanksgiving party. I used the tie and belted the waist to shorten the dress a bit and added a shiny gold heel to dress it up. In the end, it was probably one of my favorite dresses to wear! Seriously.

Have you shopped the cabi Clothing Fall line? What do you think of how we styled the dress? Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today, I hope you make it a great day! xo

Rocked it & Swapped it

This swap post is one of my favorites because it's a two item Rocked it & Swapped it. By now you all know of our love for cabi Clothing, but this bow neck blouse and plaid coat are next level. If you love either of these items as much as we do, contact a cabi Clothing stylist stat! They will be your all time favorites for years to come, the quality of both are amazing, and the print and color on the jacket is absolutely stunning. You will not be disappointed, I promise!

OK, now onto our styling. When I wore my blouse and jacket back in August, I paired it with a super chic faux leather trimmed skirt and two-tone boots. I finished my look off with gold jewelry and a bold lip color. When Kaitlyn styled her blouse and jacket in November, she went a more casual pairing. By adding color denim and floral print flats her top and jacket took on a new look. I love just how versatile these pieces are! This would also be a great example of how to style these items from day to night, don't you think?

What do you think of our pairings? Are you a fan of the blouse and jacket? Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today, I hope you make it a great day! xo

Rocked it & Swapped it

Us Midwest gals have quite a few coats and lets be honest, we need them. Today is high 38 degrees, low 16 degrees, which means wearing warm layers and a great coat are key to staying warm. We were recently gifted this beautiful Chelsea Coat from J.Jill and I can speak for both of us when I say we are obsessed. I personally have been wearing my daily, the gray color is the perfect addition to literally any outfit! Gray not your color? This beauty comes in black and a super beautiful teal color called ocean as well.

When Kaitlyn styled her coat, she paired it with tights and a dress for a weekend family party. I love how the gray really made the red in her dress pop! When I styled my coat a few days later, I wore it over an all black base and added pops of colors and prints in the accessories. Both looks were elevated by adding such a great long jacket!

I'd also like to point out that we both added our compassion fund floral scarf. Not only is this scarf beautiful (and reversible), but 100% of the net proceeds will help disadvantaged and homeless women become self-sufficient. You can pick up your very own here. They make great holiday gifts!

What do you think of our pairings? Are you a fan of long-collarless coats? Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today, I hope you make it a great day! xo

Rocked it & Swapped it

It's sweater weather friends! Which, honestly is both of our favorite time of the year. We are giant fans of all things layers, so we were over the moon to be gifted this beautiful topper from J.Jill. As in, we both got one. I mean, when you both love the same item and know you will be wearing it non-stop all season, it just makes sense to each get your own. ;)

When I styled mine, I wore over a classic turtleneck, denim cut-offs, tights, and my to-to boots of the season. The outfit felt unexpected but still put together and I was ever so cozy in my topper. A few weeks later, Kaitlyn styled hers over a great lace-up detail top, high-waist denim, and the same go-to boots. This look is classic and perfect for everyday wear all season long. In un-related news we may be morphing into one style personality without our knowledge. lol

Are you a fan of this sweater cardigan/coat we styled? Do you have a favorite topper you wear during these transitional weather months? Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today, I hope you make it a great day! xo

Rocked it & Swapped it: Cabi Velvet Loafers

Everyone needs a great pair of loafers (or ten pair for that matter), and these velvet floral beauties from cabi Clothing are our favorites! They can easily be dressed up or dressed down, and can be styled and paired with literally any outfit. We both opted to style ours with everyday wear, giving a great pop of print to each of our looks. When Kaitlyn styled hers, she wore a classic t-shirt paired with a skirt for a  mid-day coffee date. I later styled mine with a cozy knit and denim cut-offs for a day of errands and a quick trip to the kids school.

Do you own a pair of loafers? Admittedly, I own seven pair, some for the summer months, some for the fall and winter months, some solid colored, and some print. I mean, it really is the perfect style shoe and did I mention how comfortable they are? As a mother-of-two, I am literally always running around. I love me a great heel, but flats are so key for keeping up and playing with the kiddos. Here are a few of my favorites currently selling.

How many pairs of loafers do you own? If you can only get one pair, we highly recommend these beauties cabi put out this season! Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today, I hope you make it a great day! xo

Rocked it & Swapped it: Saddle Bag

Happy Thursday, friends! A great saddle bag is a wardrobe staple that can take you through all four seasons and can be dressed up or dressed down. I have had this bag from Sole Society for three years now, and it is still one of the most worn bags in my collection. As you can see, I pulled examples of myself wearing it in May of 2016 and Kaitlyn styling the same bag in September of 2017. Any bag that is this versatile is one every girl should have in their wardrobe.

I searched high and low to find you guys the best saddle bags currently selling. I am loving all the beautiful colors and all are under $100, most under $50. Happy shopping!

Rocked it & Swapped it

Happy Thursday friends! Today's swap is centered around a classic wardrobe staple, this gorgeous white blouse from ASOS. Everyone needs a white blouse in their closet. They are super versatile, can be styled year round, and can be dressed up or dressed down. This one is extra pretty with it's lace and button details, which honestly drew us both to it. Plus it's only $45, so we say stock up on this one while you can!

When Kaitlyn styled her top, she wore it as a classic combo. Nothing is more easy to pair, while looking very put together, then jeans and a blouse. By adding great jewelry, adorable flats, and a statement bag, her classic look really stood out. When I got my hands on it, I wanted to pair it a bit more unexpected. I paired it with a button-up skirt, faux fur vest, and navy boot. In the end this is a great example of a day to night styling for this blouse, no?

Rocked it & Swapped it

Everybody needs a great cross body bag, so why not pick one up that has a cute tassel detail on it? That's just what Kaitlyn did when she found this neutral beauty at Target (which sadly is sold out), but have no fear I have search high and low for cute alternatives. If you feel like doing a little shopping today, feel free to click on the photos below!

SHOP CROSS BODY TASSEL BAGS:

When Kaitlyn styled her bag back in May, she kept her look casual with a sweatshirt, skinny jeans, sneakers, and oversized sunglasses. Her pink lip and neck scarf took it up a notch giving the outfit a more chic look. When I recently styled her bag, I too was wearing a more casual everyday look. By adding it to my stripe maxi t-shirt dress & block heel mules, I was good to go for my day of errands. In the end, I added a bright red lip and a scarf, but I added my scarf to the bag. That has to be my favorite timeless trend to mix up your bags, wouldn't you agree? I know my grandma did it and that makes it even more special to me.

Do you own a great cross body bag? How about a tassel one? Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today, I hope you make it a great day! xo

Rocked it & Swapped it: Chambray Trim Hat

There is nothing more versatile and perfect for summer then a great sun hat. Over the years I have accumulated quite the hat collection, and that's for a number of reasons actually. First and foremost, I wear hats for sun protection. I have fair skin, scars from a dog bite back in sixth grade, and have been protecting my face from the sun for as long as I can remember. I am just glad there are so many beautiful options nowadays!

Secondly, they are a great way to hide a bad hair day or even just making your hair style easier for that day. I mean, there is nothing easier for a summer festival then adding a great sun hat.  Lastly, hats are a fun way to change the look of any outfit. I'm not even just talking summer either, I love me a great wool hat during the winter months as well!

SHOP CHAMBRAY TRIM HATS:

This chambray trim hat that Kaitlyn was gifted by J.Jill a few months ago is such a fast favorite. The style is classic and the blue pop really elevates each outfit that much more. When Kaitlyn styled her hat, she wore it with a beautiful navy top, stripe linen pants, and a great coral bag. When I got my hands on it over the 4th of July weekend, I wore it with a stripe top, white linen pants, and all white chucks. In the end I love both looks and it just makes me want to add a chambray trim hat to my collection. Good thing I added some great ones to shop above at really low price points!

Are you a fan of wearing hats? How many do you own?

Rocked it & Swapped it: Old Navy Chambray Dress

Happy Thursday friends! This week, we are rocking and swapping this beautiful chambray dress of Kaitlyns. She picked this one up from Old Navy back in early 2016, and we have been swapping it ever since. Oddly, I never took photos in it until recently. It is such a great everyday piece but it's longer on me, so I was always coming up with reasons why not to shoot in it. Kaitlyn and I are five inches apart in height, so what works on her length wise, doesn't always work on me (and vice verse...don't even get me started on our shared romper issues! lol). However, I finally came to the conclusion that I liked it knee length, and if I wanted it shorter, I could just pull the elastic waist up!

SHOP CHAMBRAY DRESSES:

When Kaitlyn wore her dress last June, she styled it with a bandana tied around her neck, classic white chucks, my stripe clutch, and a great red lip. When I got my hands on it this past month, I paired it with a long stripe cardigan, gladiator sandals, and this shared paint splattered bag of ours. I think I'm finally over my "it's too long for me" phase. At your knee can be a great cut for a dress too! Especially when chasing kiddos around. ;)

Rocked it & Swapped it | Sole Society Nude Bag

Every women needs a great nude bag in her wardrobe. I was lucky enough to be gifted this one from Sole Society three years ago and it's still in perfect condition. It mixes and matches with literally anything and everything and even dresses up the look a bit with all it's classic glory. A great nude bag never goes out of style ladies! In the market? Shop a few of my favorites at all price points below.

SHOP NUDE BAGS:

When I styled my nude bag back in 2015, I wore it to a family photo shoot. I paired it with a breezy maxi dress, denim jacket, and neutral mixing shoes. (Can these shoes get a shout out? Still one of my favorite pairs as well!) This nude bag really tied the shoes into he look and even dressed up the outfit a bit more. When Kaitlyn recently wore my bag, she paired it with a gorgeous ruffle, OTS top, white denim, and classic nude sandal. I think both looks were elevated by pairing them with such an iconic piece like a nude bag.

What are your thoughts on owning a large nude bag?
How do you like our pairings?
